Letter from the President
There is a sense of community here. As president, I have tried to focus my attention
on strengthening that sense of community. Several developments over the course
of the year help bear this out.
First, as many of you should have noticed, our new signs have been posted around
the neighborhood. They are a refreshing change to the old ones. In a small way,
the signs help shape our identity as a community – not just of a geographical
boundary, but as neighbors and friends. My many thanks to all who helped- the
neighbors who donated to fund the installation costs; to all who helped dig post
holes and install the signs; and to the Orr family for all of their help.
Second, in conjunction with the Edgebrook and Wildwood associations, NECA has
jointly sponsored a letter to our elected aldermen, seeking their help to place all
three neighborhoods into one aldermanic district. All three associations share
more than similar boundaries, we all face many of the same issues and concerns.
Sharing an alderman may help focus attention on the issues that all three
associations face.
Third, NECA is working with the Edgebrook and Wildwood associations on the
community connection project. As many of you know, the passageway that connects
all three associations is badly in need of repairs. Plans are underway to address
the types of repairs needed, as well as ways to fund them. My thanks to Jim Hankin
for all of his help on this project.
In this year’s membership dues drive, I hope everyone participates in our growing
sense of community by making their $25 contribution. With a successful dues drive,
we may once again fund the snowplowing services for December, January and
February. By undertaking the funding for private snow plowing services, we not only
help ourselves clear a path in and out of the neighborhood; we also help our
neighbors find their paths too. It takes a community!

Snow Plowing continues in North Edgebrook
NECA will be once again offering snow plow service to its residents this year.
Our contract is to plow curb-to-curb beginning when 2-3 inches of snow are on the
ground and continuing until the snow stops. Please pay attention to the weather
forecast and move your cars off the street if we expect snow. This will help the
streets get plowed cleanly and quickly and will make sure you don’t have to spend
hours digging out your car.
If your street was missed or there is some other problem which needs the attention
of our plow service, please contact Erick Robertson (7136 McAlpin) at 773-631-
7938.
